A Jacobean manor house on the edge of the Cotswolds
For Cotswolds charm with a splash of rural splendour, this award-winning, 17th-century Jacobean pile tempts with 14 acres of stunning grounds within easy strolling distance from Bradford-on-Avon. Elsewhere, a spa with an indoor pool, a Victorian walled garden, and plenty of activities will all keep you busy from dawn until dusk.
With homely and tasteful decor that veers on the right side of boutique-chic, each of Woolley Grange's 25 rooms impress with eclectic furnishings, lavish fabrics, period pieces and creature comforts aplenty. Spend your days drinking tea by the roaring log fire, booking signature facials and body treatments in the sublime spa, watching DVDs, playing swing-ball or croquet, and releasing your inner child by bouncing on the trampoline.
After a day out exploring the local canals and rivers, which are home to more than 35,000 boats in all shapes, sizes and colours, dining here is a culinary thrill. Refuel with generous breakfasts, savour three-course Sunday lunches, and expect well-presented classic British fare with a global twist at the fine dining restaurant, headed up by a quarter finalist in BBC's MasterChef: The Professionals.
The walled garden also has medicinal and culinary herbs, alongside an excellent selection of fruits and vegetables, which are available to buy in the shop during the growing/harvesting season. With all this in mind, it's small wonder the hotel scooped a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence.

Seasonal cuisine using ingredients grown in the hotel’s Victorian walled garden is served at two restaurants - the family-friendly Orangery and a fine-dining spot for grown-ups - both headed by Chef Jethro Lawrence, a quarter finalist in BBC's MasterChef: The Professionals. Expect classic British fare with a global twist, such as hearty three-course Sunday lunches, confit duck leg with pancetta, and apple crumble with rum and raisin ice cream and crème anglaise.
Breakfast is a buffet-style affair with cereals, yoghurts, fresh fruit, pastries and muffins, and delicious plated options are also on the menu. During the warmer months, the dining tables spill out onto the terrace for al fresco dining and afternoon cream teas. There are also two lounges where you can relax with hot drinks, cocktails and fine wines.
Housed in a contemporary, oak-timber building in the walled garden, the state-of-the-art spa features an indoor pool, two treatment rooms, an impressive reception and refreshment area, sauna, and steam room. For beauty aficionados, the extensive spa menu lists facials, massages, body therapies, wraps and scrubs and more, using Elemis and Jessica products.
