A superb self-catering Scotland stay at a secluded holiday resort between the Cairngorm Mountains and Moray Firth, with cosy chalet-style accommodation

For outdoorsy adventures on an epic scale, the location of this holiday resort couldn’t get much better. Surrounded by 35 acres of silver birchwood, Macdonald Lochanhully Woodland Club is set between the mighty Cairngorm Mountains and Moray Firth – Scotland’s spellbinding coastline lined with spectacular cliff scenery, pretty seaside villages and beautiful sandy beaches. Wildlife-lovers will be in their element here, as resident dolphins glide beneath the waters of these wild, untamed inlets, making it one of the best spots to glimpse these creatures in their natural habitat.

Perfect for stressed-out urbanites seeking rural respite, the facilities at Macdonald Lochanhully Woodland Club are top-notch. Sleeping up to six guests, each of the Scandi-style pine chalets has two bedrooms, a living/dining area, conservatory, well-appointed bathroom, and a kitchen kitted out with all the cooking essentials you’ll need.

You're spoiled further with an on-site indoor pool, sauna and steam room, plus the chance to sign up for an array of face and body treatments – carried out in candlelit-rooms at the resort’s nearby sister property. There’s also a trout-filled lochan (lake) for seasonal fishing, an all-day signature restaurant for home-cooked meals and a cosy bar for evening cocktails and a good choice of whisky.
