Hop between Vietnam's historic beauties of Hanoi and Hoi An, Cambodia's ancient Angkor Wat, and round off in fast-paced Ho Chi Minh City - includes an optional overnight Halong Bay cruise and travel

Plunge yourself into the kaleidoscopic array of natural, cultural and historic wonders of Vietnam and Cambodia on this vivid journey of discovery. Experience Vietnam’s old-fashioned Hanoi, the canal-laced melting pot of Hoi An and capital Ho Chi Minh City, with Cambodia’s stunning Siem Reap sandwiched majestically in the middle. Add on an overnight cruise across Halong Bay and you have a stellar Southeast Asian voyage.

It all starts in Hanoi, a laid-back city with charming French-Colonial style buildings, wide boulevards and bustling markets. For starters, take in the atmospheric Old Quarter and perhaps discover Vietnam's first university, the 1070-built Temple of Literature, that's devoted to the philosophies of Confucius.

You might then choose to embark on one of life's bucket-list trips, taking to the emerald waters of Halong Bay for an overnight cruise. You'll get to gaze up at eye-popping stalactites and stalagmites inside a grotto and perhaps participate in some early morning tai chi on deck, if you find yourself fully immersed in the area's tranquil vibe. Swim off Ti Top Island or hike on its land, go squid fishing at night or unwind completely with spa treatments on the boat (payable).

Then, you'll fly to the breathtakingly beautiful Siem Reap in Cambodia, where you'll be staying at the splendid Angkor Palace Resort & Spa. Spend your time here trying to digest the historical magnitude of Angkor Wat, browsing the famous night markets and making the most of the hotel's luxe spa facilities. The optional full-day complex tour rewards you with a thorough examination of the ancient city and its ruins, ending with a heartwarming sunset over the age-old monuments.

You'll then travel to the fascinating port town of Hoi An, a UNESCO World Heritage marvel near the coast. Visit its historic Japanese Covered Bridge, Chinese Temple and much more, before spending quality time in your magnificent riverside dwellings at the sun-yellow Hotel Royal Hoi An - MGallery by Sofitel. You're mere steps from a gorgeous mosaic-tiled pool and a six-minute walk from the UNESCO-listed Old Quarter, making sightseeing a piece of cake.

It's back to magical Vietnam and straight into the thrilling heart of Ho Chi Minh City. Pullman Saigon Centre Hotel is a striking modern tower with a 30th-floor restaurant and bar offering up some of the best panoramas in town. Your stylish, contemporary room provides the perfect retreat from the hustle and bustle, after a day spent exploring sights like Ben Thanh Market, the Saigon River, Reunification Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral and the Opera House.

You have the chance to experience a slice of wartime history too on an optional tour of the Cu Chi tunnels, revealing the networks of bunkers, traps, and tunnels used by the Vietnamese guerrillas. You also have the opportunity to go on an afternoon tour of the metropolis, snapping photos of the former Presidential Palace, Notre Dame Cathedral, Saigon Post Office and Ben Thanh market.
