A once-in-a-lifetime trip to Vancouver and Alaska, with a city stay and a scenic seven-night cruise amongst icebergs and glaciers - including travel

Taking you from hip Vancouver, the glass-towered metropolis set against a backdrop of breaktaking, dramatic scenery, to the epic national parks and gigantic glaciers of beautiful Alaska, this is an unforgettable bucket-list trip worth ticking off.

You'll kick off this incredible North American adventure with three nights in Vancouver, staying at Georgian Court Hotel, a superbly placed, downtown hotel. Vancouver's the top of many a traveller's wishlist and, as one of Canada's most beautiful cities, it's not hard to see why. As well as sightseeing in Gastown, Chintown and Stanley Park you can immerse yourself in the rising gastronomical scene, as micro-breweries jostle with hip cafes for passing trade.

Then, you'll board the MS Volendam for a seven-night cruise into Alaska, starting with the Inside Passage, which boasts mile upon mile of stunning scenery, including thundering waterfalls, endless islands and glaciated mountains. Keep your eyes peeled for marine life, such as sea lions, eagles and porpoises, as you make your way to Alaska's capital of Juneau, where you can take part in an optional excursion, such as salmon fishing or wildlife cruising.

Next, you'll head on to Skagway, with its old fashioned boardwalks, battered saloons and Gold Rush history, before making your way through the jaw-dropping Glacier Bay, where 16 soaring mountains converge into a vista of magnificent glaciers and massive icebergs. The next day, you'll arrive in Katchikan, situated on Revillagigedo Island, AKA the 'salmon capital of the world'.

Another day cruising your way back to Vancouver will give you every chance to make the most of the MS Volendam's facilities, which include two swimming pools, a beauty salon and spa, a casino and even art and photography galleries. Wine taste at one of the bars, or listen to live piano music in another, after an Italian dinner perhaps, before reluctantly disembarking to head back home to the UK.
